Purpose
Bayside Christian College is committed to protecting the health and safety of volunteers. Specifically, the purpose of this policy is to set guidelines and procedures for ensuring all appropriate measures are taken to protect the health and safety of volunteers at the college.
Scope
This policy applies to all volunteers of Bayside Christian College.
Policy Statement
The college will ensure that:
- Reasonable care is taken to avoid exposing volunteers to reasonably foreseeable risks of injury
- Activities involving volunteers will be subject to the same process of risk assessment undertaken in relation to activities involving employees
- The school will take all reasonable steps to eliminate or reduce risks to which volunteers may be exposed
- Volunteers will not be expected to take primary responsibility for activities with significant foreseeable risks
- Suitable insurance will be arranged to cover volunteers in case of injury while assisting the school.
Communication of Policy
The College will communicate this policy to Volunteers and the College community as appropriate.
Implementation of Policy
This policy will be implemented as follows:

volunteers will be given any information, training or supervision necessary to ensure their health and safety

volunteers will be expected to comply with systems and procedures put in place in the interests of health and safety including signing the visitor register on arrival at the College
